| D3 Eagles Impress in Home Opener FGCU dominates Embry-Riddle to Earn First Victory of Season! October 3, 2009 The D3 hockey team flexed its 2009-2010 muscles in front of a capacity crowd on Saturday night with a rousing 8-3 victory over the visiting Embry-Riddle Aeronautical team from Daytona Beach. With a roster comprised of an equal number of returning players and rookies, the Eagles were a little nervous at the outset of the game and were actually down 2-1 at the midway point of the first period. | Eagles Storm Through Tennessee FGCU opens up the season with four wins in a row! October 5, 2009 The FGCU D3 hockey team had a busy and very successful week. They travelled to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the Tennessee Volunteers and the Davenport Panthers on Thursday and Friday nights respectively. Tennessee has had a relatively strong team over the past few seasons and were a good test for the Eagles. The Eagles rose to the occasion and soundly defeated their division rivals 8-3. A similar scenario occurred on Friday night with our hometown team overpowering Davenport by the score of 7-4. Saturday was a travel day. click here for full story |

| Grand Valley State Lakers Disappoint Eagles FGCU drops two games to visiting Lakers! October 12, 2009 This weekend saw the arrival of a strong D3 team from Grand Valley State University, Michigan. The hometown Eagles had been undefeated to this point in their schedule, but GVSU was determined to change that. On Friday night the Eagles jumped ahead to a late first period lead of 2-1 on goals by Cris Kelo and Steven O’Neill. However, GVSU came roaring back with 2 goals in the last 3 minutes to take the lead 3-2. | D3 Eagles Maul Renssalaer and Top Loyola FGCU D3 Hockey Picks up Two Solid Home Victories! October 19, 2009 When presented with the opportunity of playing a D2 opponent, the Eagles rose to the occasion. Outshooting Renssalaer by an incredible 66-21, the D3 Eagles dominated throughout the game winning by a resounding 11-1. Jordan Hume was strong between the pipes, yielding a single goal with only 3 minutes remaining in the game to agonizingly lose his shutout. Twelve shooters found their way on to the score sheet, led by Eric Cosma (1g, 4a) who is proving to be quite a playmaker. | Spring 2010 Tryout Dates Announced Interested Players Must Submit Tryout Applications & Tryout Fees December 26, 2009 All players interested in trying out for the FGCU Hockey Team in the Spring 2010 must complete a tryout application. The Spring 2010 FGCU Hockey tryouts will take place on January 6, 2010 at Germain Arena from 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM. In order to be eligible to tryout, players must submit both a tryout application and fee prior to tryouts. Also, all interested players are encouraged to contact the coaching staff. as soon as possible.
