The scoring onslaught continued on Sunday with the Eagles thumping the Yellow Jackets by a score of 12-1. Fully 15 team members found their way on to the score sheet, indicating the depth of the team this season. To their credit, Georgia tech arrived with a short bench due to reading week at their school. In a game where GT was outshot 70 to 9, GT netminder Maxx Lucas did a remarkable job of limiting goals against to only 12. The Eagles swarmed around the net (sorry for the pun, GT) with ever increasing frequency as the game progressed. The Eagles were led by the ever dangerous Nathan Altmann who had a hat trick as well as an assist. Kelly Johnson and Ricky Beaton each notched two. Honorable mentions to Steven O’Neill (1g, 3a), Eric Cosma (2a), John Goddard (1g, 1a), Josh Patry (2a), Scott Short (1g, 1a), and Jon Howell (1g, 1a).
This Eagles team is relatively young with only two seniors on the roster (Jordan Hume and Joe Russo) and has some maturing to do if a national title is in the future. In particular, needless penalties have to be a concern of coach Evan Crawford. The Eagles need to focus on clean hits, especially in the offensive zone, if they are to be successful.
