FGCU Hockey Celebrates Seven Year Annivesary
Founded in the fall of 2002, the FGCU Hockey Club has made tremendous strides in establishing a tradition of excellence for collegiate hockey in Southwest Florida. In only five years the FGCU Hockey program has experienced overwhelming growth. Although in the team's inaugural season (2002-2003) the FGCU Hockey team finished with a discouraging record of 4-12-0, the program began its strides to success shortly there after. During the 2003-2004 Season, the team qualified for its first ever National Championship and finished raked 15th in the nation. After getting a taste of what it would take to compete nationally, the FGCU Hockey Program had its breakout year during the 2004-2005 Season finishing their campaign ranked #2 in the nation with a season record of 24-3-1 and followed up by becomming ranked #6 in the nation after the 2005-2006 Season with a season record of 28-5-1. After dominating ACHA Division III college hockey in the south, the program decided to make its move to Division II for the 2006-2007 Season and shocked the nation finishing ranked 13th in the country. To top it all off, for the 2007-2008 season, the program fielded two teams in both Division 2 and Division 3 of the ACHA and both teams qualified for their respective national championships, finishing ranked 8th in D2 and 14th in D3. This extraordinary success is the result of a lot of hard work by many people.
The FGCU Hockey Club is a student organization lead by club president Evan Crawford. The hockey program is supported by a Board of Directors that assists students in team decision making and administration. All board members and other hockey staff are volunteers.

Take a minute to look at these pages and see what your local college hockey team has achieved. Our history is filled with tremendous accomplishments from exceptional hockey teams comprised of players from as close as Fort Myers, Florida and as far away as Canada and Europe.
As you look at the records from the past six seasons it is important to remember the sacrifices players, coaches, team officers, and volunteers have made to make FGCU Hockey one of the premier ACHA programs in the United States. The success of FGCU Hockey is proof that college hockey is alive and well in Florida.
We would like to thank you, our fans, for your enthusiastic support over the past season and want to welcome you to an FGCU Hockey game this year. Come out and enjoy the 2008-2009 college hockey season with the Florida Gulf Coast University Hockey team. You will be glad you did.
