Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) The Southwest Florida region includes popular holiday destinations that attract visitors from around the globe, helping to make it one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. The airport is located on Florida's Gulf coast and its air trade area, which includes Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties, is home to almost 900,000 year-round residents. Seventy-five miles of beaches, countless miles of shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico, a subtropical climate and a steadily diversifying economy contributed to the region's 39 percent population increase from 1990 to 2000. The city of Naples, which grew by 65 percent, had the second highest growth rate in the nation during the same period.

Ground Transportation With the high demand of rental vehicles in the Southwest Florida Area during the Spring Break season, the tournament committee has prearranged for all teams ground transportation needs. Teams will have the option of renting 15-passenger vans or 55-passenger coach buses. The tournament committee has secured the most competitive rates possible with two outstanding companies. Wets Coast Van Rentals will be the official provider of 15 and 12 passenger vans for the tournament. Cruisers Transportation will be the official provider of both 47 and 55 passenger coach buses. We are proud to have both of these companies as official suppliers to the ACHA Division II National Championships.

Hotel Accomodations The 2008 ACHA Division 2 National Championships are being held during the height of Spring Break Season and as such Southwest Florida is typically flooded with springbreakers and snow birds and hotel rooms are at a premium. In peak season there is not only a limited availability of hotel rooms, but the room rates may be as high as $300.00 per night at standard hotels. This creates a situation where those team not being able to book rooms until the last minute may have difficulty finding hotels or may be forced to pay premium prices. To help guarantee the lowest hotel prices possible, the 2008 ACHA Nationals planning committee has established a list of host hotels with approved tournament rates in order to assist teams in finding lodging for the tournament. The tournament committee has made their best effort to find and hold accommodations as close to Germain Arena as possible while maintaining a per room rate range between $84.00 - $169.00. The organizing committee does not receive any financial benefit for providing this service. It is a free service intended to make your trip to nationals easier. Teams are not required to stay at any of the host hotels, but it is highly reccommended. When contacting host hotels it is important that you mention that you are calling on behalf of either FGCU Hockey or the ACHA National Tournament. Also, many hotels are willing to provide transportation between their facilities and Germain Arena free of charge.
