| Mississauga Hornets from Canada Impressive Exhibition Game Brings Out Best in Players February 17, 2006 In what some expected to be just an exhibition series with no real impact turned out to be just the opposite. The FGCU Eagles hosted the Mississauga Hornets from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada last weekend for two games. The games turned out to be two completely different affairs. Friday's game showed the Eagles to be the better team as the FGCU squad outscored the Hornets 11-4. Eight different Eagles would tally goals being led by Brett Galbraith, Brian Foster and Matt Bur who each posted two. Other goals came from Allan Penney, Nick Williams, Matt Maida, Justin Moore, and James Johnstone. |

| The Hornets showed excellent intensity and racked up four goals. Scoring came from Mackereth, Hosegood, Blanchard, and Phillips. The saturday night game was remarkably different than Friday. The Hornets came out buzzing and challenged the Eagles on every turn. Even so the home team would score first on a shot by Scott Wallin. Fourteen minutes elapsed until FGCU scored again with Kevin Olsen getting the point. The second period saw Mississauga score first but not until late in the period when Nicoloft scored to make the game 2-1 in favor of FGCU. Brett Galbraith would score three minutes later to put the Eagles up by two. With a great deal of fight and forechecking pressure the Hornets faught back with goals by Fraser and Pacheco to tie the game at the 11:52 mark. |
| Brett Galbraith, Matt Bur, and Brain Foster each scored a pair of goals in the first game of the weekend series with the Mississauga Hornets. |
| With less than two minutes remaining in the game FGCU's Michael Sellito stormed in on the Mississauga netminder to slip home the winning goal. Final score FGCU 4, Mississauga 3. The weekend turned out to be a great event that the Eagles and the Hornets hope to repeat. Thank you to Randy Penney and his staff for two very well played games.
