| Eagles Win Final Home Games of Season FGCU Maintains Reputation as Best Amateur Hockey Team in Florida! February 25, 2007 In a match-up of two of the most competitive amateur hockey teams in the state of Florida, the South Florida Golden Wolves from Pembroke Pines, Florida ventured across the alley to take on the FGCU Eagles Hockey Team. The featured match-up was the final home games of the Eagles 07-08 campaign and fans were eagerly awaiting the weekend series as it was their last chance to catch their team in action. FGCU did not disappoint the home town crowd winning both games convincingly against a younger and very talented Golden Wolves team. Both teams were using the weekend series as prepartion for their post season play, as FGCU is heading to Fort Collins, Colorado for the National Championship and the Golden Wolves have the Southeast District Tournament coming up in their league. With that said, the games featured some great highlights and provided for some great college hockey entertainment. |

| The Eagles captured the first game with a commanding 7-1 victory. FGCU outplayed the Golden Wolves from start to finish to soundly prove why they are the best non-professional hockey team in the state of Florida. Highlighting the scoresheet in the Friday night contest was once again the Williams, Messer, Galbraith line who have been on fire lately. The line combined for four goals on the night and each linemate earned three points. Matt Maida, Brian Scholtz, and Kevin Olsen each had two point games and help contribute to the win. Goaltender Jordan Hume played a very solid game allowing only one goal of 21 shots. The second night was a much better battle. FGCU inserted many junior varsity players into the line-up for the second match-up to give some of the rookies valuable playing time. The newcomers to the lineup performed admirably and helped secure a 6-2 victory for the Eagles. The scoring was spread out in the Saturday night battle, with eleven different Eagles earning a point and five different goal scorers. Most notably, the Eagles outshot the Wolves 55-31 and gave the South Florida goaltender all he could handle. The weekend sweep provided a final opportunity for the Eagles to get gametime experience before the team heads to the National Championship in Colorado. |
