Eagle Fans Give NC State A Very Unfriendly Welcome

After a long off-season, the FGCU Hockey Team returned home from the season opening weekend in Michigan to host the NC State Wolfpack in the 2007 Home Opener. The game was highlighted with the capacity crowd at Germain Arena of over 750 people. According to Team President Matt Maida "It truly was a sight to see. There were hundreds of students painted with the FGCU colors all over the arena and it was so loud, you could not even hear your teammates on the ice." With the Eagle faithful in high spirits, NC State had the daunting task of being the first team to take on the Eagles at home in Southwest Florida. FGCU delivered a solid team effort in the weekend series and took both games by scores of 4-0 and 9-4. |
