| Eagles Poised to Take on the State of Michigan October 3, 2007 The FGCU Hockey Team have spent the past three months preparing for what promises to be one of the most difficult seasons in team history. As the team is making it's last minute preparations, the ACHA Division II community is anxiously awaiting the Eagles arrival in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the inaugural Grand Valley State University Invitational. This weekend the team will travel to the hockey hotbed of Grand Rapids and Mount Pleasant to take on some of the best teams the American Collegiate Hockey Association has to offer. After a long offseason, team veterans are expected to elevate their play and lead the only Division II hockey team in the state of Florida to another winning season. It will be a tall task for the Florida team to be successful this year as the cards are certainly stacked against them. During the team's opening weekend alone, the Eagles will take on Davenport University, Penn State University, Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Grand Valley State University. All five teams were ranked amongst the best in the nation last season in Division II hockey and will certainly provide a healthy test for FGCU. |

| The coaching staff has been working extremely hard in the past few weeks to physcially prepare the team. In addition to on-ice training, the players have gone through an extensive training program and have meet regularly for team video anaysis and discussion about team systems. Coach Brinkworth mentioned that the team will focus on "aggressive offensive and defensive systems" this season. With a schedule that includes over forty games this season, the players will stand to benefit from all the hard work they have put in during the off-season. Although it is difficult to tell how the FGCU Hockey Team will stack up in Division II, this weekend will help give the Eagles an idea of where they stand in the Division II world of hockey. The Eagles will open up their season on Thursday, October 4, 2007 against the Davenport University Panthers in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 8:00 PM at the Georgetown Ice Arena.
