FGCU Hockey - 2008 Nationals Host Team

It was only six months ago when the FGCU Hockey Team hosted the 2006 ACHA Division III National Championships, and recently at the American Collegiate Hockey Association's National Meeting, the program was selected as the host team for the 2008 Division II National Championship Tournament. In March of 2008, the FGCU Hockey Team, Germain Arena, and the Southwest Florida community will once again be the home for thousands of hockey fans as they converge to the Greater Fort Myers Area. As proven in 2006, FGCU Hockey is extremely capable of hosting such a prestigious event. Last year alone, the event attracted over 5000 hockey fans and earned media coverage from both local radio and television stations. In addition, the Germain Arena facility showcased itself as one of the premier hockey tournament hosting venues in the entire country and the entire Southwest Florida community proudly opened its doors to the ACHA membership. As the FGCU Hockey Staff prepares for the 2008 event, there will be a lot more that both the ACHA and local hockey fans can look forward to.
Elisa Fidani, a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and a professional event coordinator has been hired to be the 2008 National Tournament Director of Operations. Stay tuned for more details about this event in the coming months. The 2008 tournament website is already in production and will be launched some time during the season. In the meantime, FGCU Hockey is proud to release the new jersey patches that all FGCU Hockey Players will wear during game play to help promote the 2008 Nationals.
