| New Affiliation Announced South Jersey Junior Raptors Join the Team September 5, 2006 Over the summer months, the FGCU Hockey Team worked extremely hard to find a junior hockey program in the United States and provide them with the opportunity to join the Ice Eagles as an official affiliate. It is with great pleasure that the Florida Gulf Coast University Hockey Team announce their newest affiliate in the South Jersey Junior Raptors. The Jr. Raptors compete within the America East Hockey League, which is a newly formed Junior 'A' League in the United States. The new affiliation will see the Jr. Raptors travel to Fort Myers, Florida annually to take on the FGCU Eagles. In addition, the Jr. Raptors will now have the opportunity to graduate their players directly into the Eagles lineup. Raptors Head Coach Matt Leema mentions that he is "extremely excited about the new partnership". The Jr. Raptors will become the breeding ground for developing future FGCU Hockey Players. |

| Team President Matt Maida commented on the new affiliation by saying: "FGCU Hockey is extremely happy to welcome the Jr. Raptors aboard. They have an outstanding program and have been producing top quality players since their inception. We look forward to working with their program and providing a place for their players to continue their hockey careers at the college level." The Jr. Raptors join the Mississauga Hornets from Canada as the two teams exclusively affiliated with the FGCU Hockey program. Both of these programs will prove to be invaluable as they continue to help develop potential FGCU Hockey players. The South Jersey Jr. Raptors will compete in a 36 game schedule within the America East Hockey League (AEHL). The AEHL is the newest Junior hockey league in North America and includes the following member teams: Eastern Pennsylvania Jr. Bucks, Cleveland Team Development Program, Harrington College Icebergs, South Jersey Jr. Raptors, Long Island Rebels, Exeter Seawolves, New Jersey Ice Hoppers, Wooster Oilers, and Delaware Thunder. |
